I had not any "my reasons" out of judging livestock. Just I did what I thoght, because I didn't know anybody there and the fact to know somebody would haven't change anything.

I just don't understand what you mean that the "organization paid the show in favor of that dog". And of course, that is just offending me.

In fact, I was a bit (or more than a bit) dissapointed with the chow level in Moscow. The black dog was one of the few ones that had the right format. What I ask in a chow: typed and misterious head, square body, correct length of legs and right gait. This dog has the right SQUARE format (even he wasn't show himself sometimes not too properly) and the right length of legs but NOT the right gait: he was too angulated behind and his coat quality wasn't good at all. In the other side, the female BOB was typed, very nice head and expresion but the topline could be better and the legs could be a bit longer so her format would be square. THAT is what I had the other day in Moscow, so I had to pick the ones I liked more among the dogs was entered. There was another dogs, some of them with good gait, some of them would have had more substance. In the end, you have the dogs, you see positive and negative things and you take a decission knowing perfectly that dogs have different mistakes (and goos things either) so you have to put on your priorities. The BOB and the black male was completely different, because there what I had, folks. If you ask me, last week end I DIDN'T FOUND what I was looking for in the chow chow ring.

Another alternative, perhaps the best one, would have been to be much harder in my califications. Format, substance, coat, angulations, gait, pigmentation, etc... I couldn't find just ONE DOG with ALL that. But you have to take your priorities. Judging firsy class livestock is exciting, funny and easy. To decide what mistakes you give LESS importance is not...

A pity. You can agree or not with my decissions but I can't accept any insinuation about my judgements than to disagree with my priorities. If you want to know, I was much more happy when I did judge the chow specialty in Moscow five or six years ago. The level was gorgeous at that time and I can't tell the same about last week end.

You are free to translate and publish my comments. Perhaps I should have give VERY GOOD to all of them and everything would have been easier and people would have understand. It is my fault to try to be a bit "positive", but, my friend, I liked NO ONE...!

Hello, dear chowfriends!

In our country the chow-chow - one of popular breeds, every year is born more than 3 thousand puppies.

At the Great National Clubshow usual number of entrees 85 and more, even in a heavy span for our country 60-75 participants came. The National Chow-chow Club always invited judges: great experts on chows, chowbreeders from UK, Norway, Sweden, Canada and others, never all-rounders.

To my great regret, this year great national clubshow have visited only a few owners and 2-3 breeders, so we have seen only 31 chows. For last 17 years it record-breaking low quantity on the main chow-chow clubshow of Russia!

Now in Russian chow-chow club there was very difficult situation, so many personal problems take place, as result is too much of breeders and owners have ignored this clubshow.
Certainly, someone could not visit it clubshow because of toughening rules of transportation of dogs in trains, to others the economic crisis has not allowed.
But a principal cause - mistrust to this presidium of National Chow-chow Club. It is very a pity, but the politics of chiefs is unfavorable for development of breed in the country, a result - only 31 dog not better quality at the Great National Clubshow.

Therefore I shall say, that Mr. Rafael Malo Alcrudo did not have an opportunity to see many chow-chows: beautiful and worthy of a high evaluation. On the presented 31 dog it is impossible to evaluate a real level of the chow-chow in Russia.

The situation in the National Club of breed has become critical. However, this is not a crisis breeds, this is a crisis of the National Club and its leadership.

The results of this dog show upset many breeders and owners, and this suggests the situation that our breed chow-chow in Russia is suffering hard times.

The reason for these upsetting results is the fact that the National Club of Russia is now run by the people who do not have a professional view over the breed standard and breeding base of such a complex species, as chow-chow. The main factor of their work is the quantitative reproduction of puppies for sale and the active use of females and males, who all have a big problem with the anatomy and health. I was disappointed even more by the fact that the producers embodying evils such as entropy, ectropion, flat edge, incorrect ears, vicious hair, atypical movement, are inbreeding. Further, these fixed defects in animals go into breeding again.

Examination of the show was more than loyal, but there is a breed standard, which must be followed. Giving Champion Club title to dog with atypical movements, which is forbidden in itself, and even a number of problems identified by the expert - without comment.

National exhibition showed that there is a crisis in the breed and the club today. These exhibitions are not always biased. Most experts simply wrong to interpret the breed standard. And it is such an interpretation of some well-known breeders are using to their own purposes. Now narrow chest to take advantage of the dog. Vicious hindquarters give the right dog to achieve the highest title. These owners believe that their dogs the best. Since the dog win, receive titles, occupy high places, the breeders think that it proves the value of their breeding dogs. Here begins pedigree "blindness" that can not be cured. Need to wake up consciences. New users perceive such breeders as the "authority" and turn to them for advice and help. They receive a one-sided information, which is what these breeders most healthy dogs without genetic problems. It is proved exhibition. But even more devastating to our breed is the fact that other owners are buying puppies in these nurseries and promoting the same approach to breeding. And he becomes predominant.
Anatomical violations, deviations in the health, defective genes are hidden, so as not to give reason to think badly of one or another dog. Thus, the breed being a great test.
Owners of puppies spend big money on their treatment. Emotionally believe in the infallibility of the breeder, trying to justify one or another of his mistake. So purchase of low credibility in the rock, which is used for the proclamation of the basic thesis of "unethical to discuss other people's dogs."
These breeders consider themselves to jurisdiction. They do not recognize the genetic problems that are manifested in their puppies, believe that these problems are inherited from other blood lines.
And just what are other breeders and owners of chow-chow, who speak openly about problems in the breed? They become outcasts. They look askance. These parties took the insults and lies. They were labeled "bad" breeder. All this is done in order to divert attention from the problems created by unscrupulous breeders. Their selfishness and indifference created impunity and permissiveness. Such people can afford not to participate in exhibitions. They just fake diplomas and certificates. They behave arrogantly and dissolved. They did not have the courage to admit their mistakes. They were forced to applaud tham and this is encouraged by the President of the National Club chow of Russia. As a result of human ambition and with the acquiescence chawbreeders we get sick animals.
